IN THE NEWS

Greenlane (TSX:GRN) is a pioneer in the rapidly emerging renewable natural gas (RNG) industry. We work with waste producers, gas utilities, and project developers to turn low-value biogas into a valuable low-carbon and carbon-negative clean energy resource. As a leading global provider of biogas upgrading systems, we are helping to clean up two of the largest and most difficult-to-decarbonize sectors of the global energy system: the natural gas grid and the commercial transportation sector.

Greenlane issued the following news release this week:

Greenlane announces agreement with ZEG Biogas to establish industrial scale volume production locally in Brazil

Greenlane announced that it has entered into a collaborative agreement with ZEG Biogás e Energia S.A. (“ZEG Biogás”), a company 50% owned by Vibra Energia S.A. (“VIBRA”), previously the fuel distribution unit of Petrobras, to locally produce, market and sell one of Greenlane’s largest and most popular biogas upgrading products in Brazil. Under the terms of the agreement, Greenlane and ZEG Biogás will collaborate to establish, locally in Brazil, volume production of Greenlane’s Totara+ Water Wash Biogas Upgrading Product, one that is capable of processing up to 2,500 Nm3/h of inlet biogas. “We have worked with ZEG Biogás for many years and have been impressed by the progress achieved and the partnerships formed, turning into reality the large landfill and even larger sugar mill waste biomethane opportunities that exist in Brazil”, said Brad Douville, CEO of Greenlane.

Greenlane is a pure play in the RNG space, offering multiple core biogas upgrading technologies, in use and proven in the industry today. Biogas upgrading sales are forecasted by industry to grow at a minimum 30% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next five years in North America and Europe. Our demonstrated leadership in biogas upgrading, scope and breadth of product offerings, and over 35 years of industry experience are fierce competitive advantages.

Today, we are a trusted partner globally and are ranked number one in installed capacity, having sold over 140 biogas upgrading systems into 19 countries and counting. We’ve learned a lot along the way. First to market in 12 of the 19 countries where our systems have been sold, we’re also proud to have supplied the systems for many of the largest RNG production facilities in the world.

NGVAmerica and the RNG Coalition announced that 69 percent of all on-road fuel used in natural gas vehicles in calendar year 2022 was RNG, surpassing the previous year’s record-breaking level. RNG use as a transportation fuel grew 17 percent over 2021 volumes, up 218 percent from 2018 levels. NGVAmerica and RNG Coalition report that in 2022 a total of 663 million gallons of gasoline equivalent (GGE) of natural gas were used as motor fuel. Of that, 457 million GGE were from renewable sources. RNG use as a motor fuel in 2022 displaced 5.63 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, or the equivalent of removing CO2 emissions from almost 633 million gallons of gasoline consumed.

Ukraine opened its first biomethane plant recently, with the first cubic metres of gas having been supplied to the gas distribution network. The plant will serve about 1,500 consumers each year. According to Mykola Solskyi, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Ukraine has great potential for biomethane production, and farmers are keenly interested in the industry's development. He added that the construction of new facilities, or the upgrading of existing ones, will allow Ukraine to abandon gas imports, strengthening its energy security, and potentially turning Ukraine into a reliable biomethane exporter.
