IN THE NEWS

Greenlane (TSX:GRN) is a pioneer in the rapidly emerging renewable natural gas (RNG) industry. We work with waste producers, gas utilities, and project developers to turn low-value biogas into a valuable low-carbon and carbon-negative clean energy resource. As a leading global provider of biogas upgrading systems, we are helping to clean up two of the largest and most difficult-to-decarbonize sectors of the global energy system: the natural gas grid and the commercial transportation sector.

Greenlane is a pure play in the RNG space, offering multiple core biogas upgrading technologies, in use and proven in the industry today. Biogas upgrading sales are forecasted by industry to grow at a minimum 30% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next five years in North America and Europe. Our demonstrated leadership in biogas upgrading, scope and breadth of product offerings, and over 35 years of industry experience are fierce competitive advantages.

Today, we are a trusted partner globally and are ranked number one in installed capacity, having sold more than 140 biogas upgrading systems into 19 countries and counting. We’ve learned a lot along the way. First to market in 12 of the 19 countries where our systems have been sold, we’re also proud to have supplied the systems for many of the largest RNG production facilities in the world.

RNG project developer Green Impact Partners (GIP) announced a strategic partnership with Amber Infrastructure Group (Amber) on its GreenGas Colorado, Iowa RNG and Future Energy Park projects, representing up to $545 million in total investment for a 50% project-level equity interest in each facility. Based in London, with offices in North America, Europe and Australia, Amber is an infrastructure investor with over $8 billion in assets under management. The strategic partnering agreement also outlines a framework for GIP and Amber to continue to partner on future opportunities over the next two years under similar terms and conditions by giving Amber a first right to provide equity if the parties mutually agree to investment terms.

Shell Petroleum NV, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shell plc (Shell), has completed the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Nature Energy Biogas A/S (Nature Energy). With the acquisition of Nature Energy, Shell has acquired the largest producer of RNG in Europe, its portfolio of operating plants, associated feedstock supply and infrastructure, its pipeline of growth projects and its in-house expertise in the design, construction and operation of innovative and differentiated RNG plant technology. Shell said the acquisition supports its ambitions to build an integrated RNG value chain at global scale and to profitably grow its low-carbon offerings to customers across multiple sectors. Nature Energy will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Shell, initially under its existing brand.

In Florida, FPU Renewables announced plans to construct, own and operate a dairy manure RNG facility at Full Circle Dairy in Madison County, Florida. FPU Renewables and its parent, Florida Public Utilities Company, are subsidiaries of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation (Chesapeake Utilities). The project will capture and clean methane from manure generated by cows with a capital investment of $22 million and first injection of RNG into the local gas grid projected to occur in 2024. Chesapeake Utilities is evaluating further investment opportunities to bring the RNG produced at the facility to market. Additionally, several offtake options for the RNG are under consideration. The project is estimated to capture and redirect approximately 1,116 metric tons (mt) of methane per year, which is 27,900 mt of carbon dioxide equivalent. Using the EPA greenhouse gas equivalencies calculator, these numbers reflect a minimum greenhouse gas emissions reduction equivalent to 6,012 gasoline-powered passenger vehicles driven for one year and CO2 emissions reduction equivalent to the annual energy consumption of 3,514 homes.
