Greenlane Reveals Cascade LF, Its Next-Generation Landfill Gas Upgrading System
On Wednesday, September 24th in Nashville, Tennessee at the RNG WORKS 2025 Technical Workshop and Trade Expo, Greenlane revealed Cascade LF, its next-generation landfill gas upgrading system designed to deliver higher performance at a lower cost.
Utilizing innovative patent-pending advancements, Cascade LF takes industry-proven and reliable technology elements and integrates them in an optimized way that fully exercises each and avoids unnecessary equipment. The result is maximum methane recovery at minimized capital investment.
“Today’s industry state-of-the-art landfill gas upgrading technology is too costly for the performance it delivers,” said Brad Douville, CEO of Greenlane. “The challenge is achieving both low cost and high performance when oxygen and nitrogen need to be removed. Greenlane has been solving the industry’s toughest challenges for over 35 years and recently turned our attention to this one. We are addressing this problem with our next-generation Cascade LF product line. Our goal is to make RNG projects more accessible and scalable by enabling project owners to enhance revenue-generating RNG output from their assets while minimizing upfront investment. Greenlane is committed to advancing the technology frontier in biogas upgrading with the aim of coming down the cost curve and going up the performance curve.”

Greenlane Announces $7.9 Million in Orders for Biogas Desulfurization Equipment from Repeat Customers
On Thursday, August 14th, Greenlane announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Airdep S.r.l., received in the third quarter new purchase orders for its proprietary biogas desulfurization equipment, including multi-unit purchases totalling $7.9 million (€4.9 million) from three repeat customers. These unit sales will support the production of renewable natural gas (“RNG”), also referred to as biomethane.
“These recent purchase orders from repeat customers demonstrate the strong market adoption of our biogas desulfurization product line,” said Brad Douville, CEO of Greenlane. “At Greenlane, we are committed to advancing renewable natural gas by addressing the industry’s most critical technology challenges, including biogas desulfurization, which is required by every biogas project. Our solution is setting the standard for dependable, cost-effective hydrogen sulfide (“H₂S”) removal. Adoption began in Italy, Europe’s fastest-growing biomethane market, and is now expanding across Europe and into the Americas, reflecting the confidence customers place in our technology.”

Greenlane Product News
In September, the Greenlane team was proud to engage with industry leaders at the 12⁰ Fórum do Biogás in São Paulo and RNG WORKS 2025 in Nashville, where we revealed Cascade LF, our next-generation landfill gas upgrading system. LATAM Operations General Manager Flavia Villela led the reveal at the 12⁰ Fórum do Biogás and CEO Brad Douville headlined the session at RNG Works, presenting how this breakthrough technology is set to redefine landfill gas upgrading with higher performance at lower cost.
Beyond the product reveal, the Greenlane team contributed as panelists and moderators on key topics demonstrating the depth of expertise and thought leadership that drives our innovation. In São Paulo, Brad Douville was part of the panel “International Trends in the Biomethane Market” with panelists from the International Energy Agency and the American Biogas Council. In Nashville, Dale Goudie, Greenlane's VP of Technology, moderated the session “Nitrogen & Oxygen Removal from Landfill Gas,” with panelists from Greenlane competitors Air Liquide, Guild Associates and Adsorption Research Inc., while Brad Douville moderated the session “The Near-Term Outlook for RNG in Transport,” with panelists from Cummins Inc., Clean Energy Fuels Corp., and Freedom CNG.

California Certifies LoCI System at Yolo County as “Most Carbon-Negative” Landfill RNG Project
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has certified Yolo County Central Landfill’s LoCI Controls real-time monitoring and control system under the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), granting it a provisional carbon intensity (CI) score of –101 gCO₂e/MJ. That makes it, to date, the most carbon-negative landfill gas project certified in California. The system, installed in 2023, enhances methane capture by adjusting operations dynamically—turning landfill gas from a marginal LCFS compliance strategy into a high-value clean fuel pathway.
This certification is notable because most landfill electricity projects have positive CI values in the range of 40–50 gCO₂e/MJ. In contrast, the LoCI-enabled project actually avoids more greenhouse gas emissions than it emits, opening the door for landfill operators and RNG developers to generate value while delivering environmental benefit. As LCFS credits become more valuable, the more negative a project’s CI, which sets a compelling example for scaling intelligent control systems across other sites.

IKEA U.S. Launches Food Waste-to-RNG Pilot Program
On September 18, 2025, IKEA U.S. announced a pilot program in partnership with Vanguard Renewables to collect food waste from five IKEA units and convert it into RNG and low-carbon fertilizer. The pilot includes stores in New Haven, Stoughton, Schaumburg, Bolingbrook, and Oak Creek.
Each unit will divert ~250 pounds of waste weekly over six months. If successful, the model could scale to more IKEA locations. The initiative supports IKEA’s goal of achieving zero organic waste by 2030 and adds a circular component to its supply chain by turning waste streams into value.

ISO & GHG Protocol Set to Harmonize Global Carbon Standards
On September 9, 2025, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol announced a strategic partnership to merge and harmonize their carbon accounting standards. This includes combining ISO’s 1406X series with the GHG Protocol’s corporate and product standards.
This alignment is expected to simplify emissions reporting, reduce inconsistencies, and accelerate the adoption of unified standards across industries. For RNG project developers, it means clearer pathways for verifying and disclosing biogas and biomethane emissions reductions across value chains.

Industrial group Air Liquide explores sale of biomethane assets, sources say
Industrial gases giant Air Liquide is reportedly considering the sale of its biomethane assets as part of a strategic shift to focus more on its core gas supply and healthcare businesses. According to sources cited by Reuters on September 12, 2025, the transaction could include up to €500 million in asset value (including debt) and could be structured either as a full sale or as a divestment of individual regional units. The company currently operates 29 biomethane / RNG production units globally.
This potential move may reflect evolving priorities within energy and industrial firms that wish to streamline operations or reallocate capital.
